Is it still possible to get one at this point in the semester? If so, do I just email the professors and ask for an appointment with them?

Also, how much is the workload, approximately?

Add/Drop deadline is over for this semester, you can still find a lab and make plans for next semester. Emailing professors is tricky, your best option is just to find a professor who’s research you are genuinely interested in, learn as much as you can about it, and pursue the professor with emails and drop ins etc.

What field are you? Research interest?

Its usually 6-15 hours a week depending on the department and research needs.

Well, I don’t really care about getting credits for it, but does that really prevent me from getting a position at this point?

I’m interested in Biochem/Molecular Bio.

you need to figure out what your interested in, find a professor who is involved in that, read their papers, and talk to them!
