Short answers to your questions. You can major in anything really. There are some courses you will want to take, such as macro and microeconomics. The reason being is there are some educational requirements you must meet on top of the exams. Those are two of the courses. The SOA site has a link to a detailed list of courses which qualify at each college. Browse there and you will find it.

Take exams whenever you are ready. Calculus is not technically required, but it is a foundation for exams. Finish that if you haven’t already, then prep for the exams with the study manuals available from the SOA and CAS websites. Plan for the tests early since they are difficult and many fail and must repeat exams.

Depending on which college you attend, courses may be available to help you prep for the exams. For example, my university preps for the first five exams. Yours may differ. Which school do you attend?
