How to improve University of Michigan (Engineering) chance?

Rank: 1/234
APs taken: Calc AB (5)
APs currently taking: Lang. + Comp., Calc BC, US History, Bio (will take 4-6 more next year)

Fairly rigorous schedule, taken highest possible foreign language past 3 years, two honor/AP science classes per year for the past two years, I'm taking the hardest possible courses essentially

ECs:

Clubs: Math Club (most likely president next year), Physics Club (most likely president next year), Academic Challenge (most likely president next year), Future Medical Leaders of America (most likely vice president next year), Key Club (hopefully some officer's position next year)

Awards/honors: Central New Jersey Brain Bee Finalist....I'm about to participate in the NJ Science League Bio II competition and Moody Math competition on behalf of my school, so we'll see how that goes; National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Math Honor Society, Science Honor Society, and Foreign Language Honor Society all of which I'll try to hold an officer's position in next year

Please tell me areas I need to improve upon!

Bump, does anyone even offer any help around here :frowning: ?

It’s only been an hour give it some time. Based on what I know and understand, I think you do have a good chance of getting into the college on engineering at U of M. If I have this right you’ll have 9-11 APs by the time you graduate which is fantastic (I think I will have 10 or 11 if I take BC XD). Your GPA and class rank are also good. Extracirriculars look great, but I would try to get a few more service hours, maybe to 50 at least? Make sure to take the SAT or ACT, and maybe a subject test or two in your strongest areas. You look great on paper, just make sure to get those standardized tests. Also, remember to get rec letters from teachers you connect with really well so they are good, and to spend a lot of time on application essays so they turn out fantastic. I am fairly certain you will get in for sure with your stats :).

However, if you are doing early action, I am slightly hesitant. Your stats have nothing wrong at all, but I am just hesitant after hearing how many people from my school were deferred from the CoE early action. However, you have a perfect UW GPA and you are taking more APs than the people who got deferred, so I infer that your schedules are more rigorous. So I think you will be fine either way :D. Good luck!

P.S. Could you please give me feedback on my chances for LSA? Thanks!

Thanks, that was definitely a relief to hear.

Haha this stuff makes me so anxious. Also I should have mentioned this before but it skipped my mind. Since you are doing College of Engineering, I would infer they take a closer look at your maths scores. That solid 5 in AP Calc AB, being a Calc tutor, along with a SAT subject test in math (I am fairly sure you would 780-800 it) could do wonders. Also make sure for teacher recs to get letter(s) (U of M only needs one) from your math teacher(s).

You definately have a good chance. Diversify your ecs. Try to get more service hours. I think you have a great chance as you are taking rigorous classes. Do you have any leadership?
