How to increase chances after deferral

as the title says, I was deferred from Penn ED to Wharton. I read some articles online that said submitting a one page letter reaffirming your interest and updating them with any achievements may help. Any confirmations on this? Also what else can I do to help?

My D was deferred in the ED round a couple of yeas ago, she did write a very polite but earnest email to the admissions director for her region, reaffirming her interest and updating her achievements, which included a winter internship and some student council initiatives. She was admitted in the RD round that year. Dont give up hope but also look deeper into the other schools you’ve applied to, so you can find things to love no matter where you decide to go.

Most important is to excel in your senior year courses and extra curricular activities. Avoid even a touch of slacking off. Update Penn on truly significant achievements. Identify a strong advocate (college counselor) for you at your high school, ideally someone who knows the Penn admissions rep for your region. Keep your “advocate” informed about your senior year achievements. And ask him to communicate them to the Penn admissions representative. Limit the number of communications and make sure each is substantial.
