Get all A’s and a decent MCAT score and apply smartly. Also, if you are in bs/md, you got at least one spot if you satisfy requirements of the program.

I know several kids who went to UK med schools right out of HS, they were definitely top 5-10% types of kids, so if you are going for a UK med school, probably AP/IB scores will be part of it as well as heavy duty science & math HS curriculum to prepare

Well you see the thing is, I come from a Commonwealth Caribbean country (former British colony), so our educational system is based off of the UK’s system (we even used to do A levels at one point) so we have no AP’s/IB’s etc. except for 1 school which does have IB which is a private American school (American International School of Kingston). My school is considered the top in the country and so we have a lot of of our students going to universities abroad, but the VAST majority of them go to American universities and the rest typically go the Canadian route. So what I’m basically trying to say is, there’s not many people to talk to in terms of going to universities in the eastern hemisphere, so that is why I’m asking here.

I’ll definitely look into the Tulane program though, Thanks.

@smile12157 : Do you happen to know the name of that program?

Well then, your A levels will get you in, or not, to a UK medical school which does not require undergrad studies, it is one program(me)

**@smile12157 : Do you happen to know the name of that program? **

i cannot remember right off hand.
go to the Tulane forum and ask the name of the program that allows you to automatically be accepted to Tulane medical school after sophomore year (assuming all the qualifications are met).

We don’t have A-levels anymore, it was replaced by a regional Caribbean exam called CAPE (Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination) that is supposed to be equivalent to the A-levels, syllabus also takes 2 years, and there are 2 parts/units to the exam (one per year) and such. However, I don’t see it on the list of acceptable requirements of any university other than Oxford University, and that is what is worrying me.

@ wowmom: No I believe the data, but all the rest of us are just dying to know what else your D1 has done. Please continue with that very informative and interesting input.
