How to Make the Most of your First Year at UCSD. TIP LIST.

<p>OH Yes, we've all heard of this before, the advice all girls hypocritically give to their friends, AND to guys who are in need of "the girl perspective" - "JUST BE YOURSELF," they say...</p>

<p>yes yes, we know how to behave around other ppl. Besides, most of us arn't that socially awkward anyway. so, when i ask: How can we make the most of our freshman year at UCSD? - im not asking for just the simple answer... "JUST BE YOURSELF."</p>

<p>With the first day of school approaching, I thought it would be nice to have a clear set of goals to achieve during welcome week. (Especially for us, lost incoming freshmans.)</p>

<p><em>Idiot's guide to freshman year (checklist version)</em></p>

<p>Establish our dorms as our new home - check.</p>

<p>Explore the campus - check</p>

<p>Look for our classrooms BEFORE our class time - check.</p>

<p>Look for jobs (workstudy student) - check.</p>

<p>don't forget to lock your door - check.</p>

<p>don't forget to lock your bike - check.</p>

<p>Get involved - check.</p>

<p>Get some friends - check.</p>

<p>wash your own clothes now, mom's not here - check.</p>

<p>Get your own food, again, mom's not here - check.</p>

<p>exercise; ward off the dreaded freshman 15 - check.</p>

<p>Find some love - check.</p>

<p>and lastly</p>

<p>Do your homework - check.</p>

<p>blah blah blah - check check check</p>

<p>I think most of us freshmen get the general point on how to get by first year. but then, we don't have the details to make our first year GREAT. The Devil's in the details. So I guess what I'm trying to ask is, "How can we make our first year GREAT at UCSD?" ;]</p>

<p>im hoping this thread could be like a tip list of what to do. where to go. what to avoid. what to get involved in. what programs are popular. which professors are chill. which professors are evil. how to manage time. what are some good on campus jobs. JUST ANY KINDA ADVICE.</p>

<p>Be completely open minded (to new people and new things), go out whenever you’re invited, explore San Diego, go GREEK!, don’t stress out so much about studying because everything works out in the end</p>
