My son got into USC with national merit scholarship - but even with that, it will still cost $50K per year. with 2 more kids who are freshman in high school, it is still quite high - and we don’t qualify for need-based scholarship.
Any tips on how to negotiate for more merit scholarship at USC?
can we negotiate with them vs other schools? My son got regents at UC Davis with $7500/year - same degree… so that will be approx $28K per year.
thoughts? tips?
I don’t think you’ll be successful. USC has the merit scholarships for NMF and then other scholarships have their own requirements (music, engineering, etc). Your child would have to earn one of those.
They aren’t going to consider a regent’s at a state school. Different system, different award amounts.
Agree with @twoinanddone. Sorry, but they are not flexible with merit. What is out there is what they have given. Some of their top scholarship kids from January will find a little bonus (like 2K) added, but they don’t otherwise bump up merit. You can look for other scholarships, but with 4000 high stat kids not even getting admitted, they aren’t hurting for high stat kids. Just how it is.
