<p>Take the hardest biology, chemistry and/or anatomy classes that are available, that you can handle. Do some volunteer work or get a summer job in a medical setting.</p>
<p>Also, keep your nose clean. A felony conviction can prevent licensing as a nurse under the laws of many states. Some criminal offenses can make a person ineligible to work in a nursing home, even as an aide. A drug conviction can make a person ineligible for any financial aid and for federal student loans. A minor offense or getting caught cheating can also keep a person from being admitted by an individual college.</p>
<p>Start studying for the ACTs and SATs sooner than later. Some schools really look at that. Also try to bring your gpa up as much as possible.</p>
