how to prepare/will my injury disquailfy me

A little about myself so you can give me the most help. I am an incoming junior in a small town in Utah. I have been wanting to go to the academy ever since I went to the Summer Stem program three years ago. (i have applied every year since but haven’t gotten in:( ) I have been wondering what I can do to prepare my self. Here are some of the things I have been doing. I am the president of the Japanese Club, have a varsity letter in swimming, played freshman and JV soccer, run cross country and track. This upcoming year I will be taking AP chemistry, AP physics, AP US history, Japanese 3, honors math, honors English, Tech 2, seminary, and weights lifting. I have a 4.0 GPA and ranked #1. As a sophomore I took the ACT and got a 26. This summer I worked 4 part time jobs. I taught swim lessons, a lifeguard at the county pool, worked part time at a clothing store, and am a part time nanny. I think I can handle time management pretty well, especially under stress. Academic wise I am not worried. But if there is anything else I can do to strengthen my application please tell me!

However, I have a really big concern. In November 2014, I had a really bad sports accident where I broke both of my arms. I broke my left wrist and my right elbow. I was in a cast for a month and went to physical therapy for 4 months. I do not have complete extension of my elbow yet. Will that be a set back? Not being able to lock both of my elbows? I have been going to a Navy Seal Trainer to help me get into shape with my upper body. What else can I do? I am so nervous of my arm being a dis-qualifier. I am super close to getting it straight. I can do pushups and weights just fine. But I hope the fact that I can’t straighten it wont be something that goes against me. Thank you again for anyone who reads this!

Not having the full range of motion in an arm can certainly be problematic. I recommend you work very hard in physical therapy over this next year to do everything you can to get the full extension in that arm. Insure you get the full recovery documented prior to you having to go through DODMERB next year. If you are unable to get the full recovery, then I think it could be an issue. Best of luck to you.
