Hi,
I am currently a senior in high school from India who will apply to UC
Berkeley this fall. The problem is that I completed all my schooling
from one school, but that school used A1-E2 grading in IX/X grades and
1-100(India/Pakistan) in XI/XII as any other school in India. How
should I report
them?
Should I report them in two halves or any other method? When I use
this option it asks me that is it the school from where I will
graduate, then it gives an error to complete all. What should I do?
Thank you.

Hey I got that but have other doubt now. I have to select laboratory science for most subjects but I’m not able to support it and allowed only to select it’s subcategories. What should I do now?

Hello, I have the exact problem of entering in details about my schooling. I have studied in the same school my entire life in the ICSE board and ISC board for X and XII respectively. Could you please tell me how to go about filling that?
Also, how do I enter the subjects that I took in school? for eg, the list given in application has stuff like mathematics: algebra etc etc. But in India, we just have one math subject which covers all those topics…so what choose in that list for mathematics?

Chose Integrated math 1 for IX, Integrated Math 2 for X, IM 3 for XI and XII. I selected ELOTE 3+ and 4+ for Hindi in IX and X resp and ELOTE 2+ for 8th class. Choose English for English. For 9th and 10th Science choose Integrated science. And chose Physics and Chemistry for XI and XII. For SST in IX and X choose A-World History / Geography / Cultures. When you will put your school it will say which diploma you will complete, write CISCE or ISC (I don’t know that, only know of CBSE only i.e. AISSCE ). Select Grading as Other and there and put there { 1-10; 1-100} Explain your grading in additional comments and your boards if you want but I think they already have the knowledge about ICSE and ISC. Hope this answers your question. I also had this problem, my friend who is at Berkeley now guided me. @nikatronix

Thanks for replying.
I entered all my marks for IX and X, however, the subjects that i have taken for XI and XII are not listed.
Apart from English and Math, I take Psychology, Commerce and Art. How am I supposed to list them?

You’re welcome. For this I can’t help because I’ve not taken these subjects, you may contact UC Application Center. You can find their email on UC application site. They’re pretty fast! :)

Are you applying to any other colleges via the commonapp?
If so, for the counselor recommendation, will your principal be doing it instead?

@nikatronix Yes, I’m applying to other colleges too. No, my school has a counselor for that matter.

There’s a counselor in my school too, but she doesn’t do all that work of sending reports and stuff. I was wondering if your counselor does that? Because thats what American counselors usually do, but its different here in India.

@nikatronix yeah they don’t usually do this type of stuff, but the counselor in my school does so. You can ask your principal to do so.

@mak1702 an A2 has to be filled as an A, right?

also what to fill in honors type?

And all my courses would come in NH right?

@michaelite put A2 as 9, no making grades on your own. I recommend you to put grades as in your transcripts as putting them incorrect would jeopardize your admission. In my opinion, put 1-10 for IX/X and 1-100 for XI/XII. Put NH.
Thanks.

@mak1702 thanks a lot mate…i was just about to make that mistake…for 10th grade you have filled only one semester or two …as CBSE gives overall grades?

Only final grades, no breaking @michaelite

Thank you mate…
