So I’ll be applying to T20s this year, and I’m wondering how exactly to show all the research I’ve done. I’ve published 3 research papers (on one of the shorter ones, I’m first author), and I know it won’t be possible to show AOs the full papers or abstracts. However, should I include a link to the papers in my additional information section? Or, is it okay if I link my ResearchGate profile? Also, if I have a paper in review, should I disclaim this in my additional information section,?
I have seen people attach the link to research in the additional information section ao’s aren’t required to read it but it’s nice for them to know it’s there you can also link your research profile but I would link either the papers or the profile to avoid seeming over the top. Personally I don’t think it is necessary to mention a paper is under review.
If you have an “Accomplishments” section, make a subsection for “Publications” and add them there. Use the same format that you use for citations. That is enough (that is how I put my publications of my resume as a researcher)
In addition, add the basic details of your research projects in your “Experience” section (you can also add “see publication details below”). No more than a sentence or two. You do not need the abstract - if they want to read it, they’ll look it up. A citation is enough to demonstrate that you actually got the research published.
Are these publications in peer-reviewed journals?
Yes, they are
For a college app, just putting a 1-2 line description in Activities can do it. No need for a separate resume. If it’s truly impressive, a teacher can note it in the LoR. You can use Addl Info to give the longer, fuller title or name the lead pro. Or yes, include the abstract. But aim to be brief.
The value to adcoms is often in the fact that you got up and found the opportunity, worked alongside pros, in the environment, not just that you had something published. Remember, if your targets review holistically, so much else also matters.
Don’t ignore what’s pending review. Just note that, when you list it.
