how to stand out

Most premeds have a check list the good grades, shadowing, researching, and volunteering. Every applicant seems to have a little of everything but how do you stand out when everyone has similar stats.
Something aside from publishing or shadowing someone important.
I am just looking for some ideas. My premed adviser told be I have become a check list premed.

thanks for any input. :)

Your personal statement can make you stand out as well as having great LOR’S.

I agree with GA2012MOM-take time to work on your PS and make as many edits as possible to tighten it. If you can fashion the PS into a story that allows you to stand out-super! The LOR portion of your profile: attempt to really get folks to write them who know you well-and work hard to get them as early as possible-best of luck in the journey!

There is no need to stand out. I believe that the idea is very overrated. Great GPA, decent MCAT score, decent number of relevant and irrelevant EC’s are good enough. Enjoying your UG experience is absolute must, not for Med. School, but for you personally. If effort “to stand out” is taking anything away from this experience, then what is a point? Being yourself and not chasing somebody else’s dream is the way to approach everything in your life, including your own dream about Med. School and all your personal passions.
