Ok, I took the SAT for the first time yesterday, and boy after the 5 minute break I couldn't take it anymore. We had 3 more sections to go, and I just stopped caring. It was just SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BORING!!. My whole head hurt, my body was sore, everything... My eyes were closing...

How can I stay focused more on the SATs. I usually finished each section with 5-10 minutes to spare. But I just didn't want to use that time to go back and check, I just couldn't take it.

aww man, no replies?

well... i think the best thing is to take more practice tests.

I know EXACTLY how you were feeling, and i felt like that for the first 2 prac tests i took, but it gets better after you take more of them. Also, you should have something to eat during break if you didnt during the test.

slow down as well, unless you're getting close to 800s in all sections. 10 min extra time at the end means 10 minutes more you could have spent reading the questions more carefully and slowly while you where doing them.

If you cant stand to do that and WANT the extra time at the end, just put your head on your desk and chill for a few minutes, you'll be a little more refreshed soon enough.

hope that helped :)

if u have 10 minutes to spare i would just spent more time doing each section, cuz from my personal experience when i go over my answers, i just glance over it for a bit and assume i did it right (math section)...but for the staying focused part i dunno what to say lol i agree it's a hella long test ~.~

As far as suggested foods go...before the ACT and SAT, I had a bagel and cream cheese for breakfast (after a full night's sleep, of course). I brought a pack of M&Ms to eat during the short breaks and a breakfast bar to eat during a longer break. Oh, and drink lots of water.

The test felt long, but I didn't get that "stop caring" feeling you describe (I did get it during practice tests).

The reading passages are usually pretty interesting for me, so I just reread them if I have any extra time

yeah practice tests would be ideal. I took a test every day of break (yes i sacrificed what equates to a social life for the sats), without taking much break time, and i didn't feel tired at all during the actual test, and i found myself more attentive to the boring/vague readings.

lol I was in the same exact situation as u like 1/2 a year ago.
thank god SATs is now over for me. lol.
i agreed with carsonne. Takes lots of practice tests.
Also, the day b4, do some exercises, sleep well..Make sure u eat a lot for breaksfast..
and i think u will be fine.
