How to study for High scores in SAT and ACT test?

Any books you will recommend? I am giving my exam on March and I have never studies for Sat or Act, or do you recommend to take program class in Community college? Please reply. I want to apply in Villanova or West Chester, so i need high scores. English is my second language and i am not so good in science.

SAT, Blue Book
ACT Red Book

Princeton Review can also help, and a couple other books, depending on your current scores. There are a couple of good guides on this website as well, check the attached threads in each section. That’s basically all you need to get a good score, given that you devote enough time and effort to it.

Well, I guess everyone has his own ways. I didn’t use anything except PR for strategy and the Blue Book for practice tests. If you’re already familiar with the material (meaning, you’ve actually paid attention throughout school), those two should be enough. They worked just fine for me.

BB, The ultimate guide to SAT Grammar, and the Essential 500 Words.

blue book first to find out strengths/weakness or use your previous scores if you took it already then follow up with doing all princeton rev mock SAT -> kaplan mock SAT with emphasis on the weakest section. as for studying SAT vocab, just do the princeton hit parade and you should be fine. theres a really good thread in CC about getting a 12 essay in under a week or something like that, follow it and you should be set for the essay :D

got a 21->24 from this, good luck !!! SAT prep places are really a rip off and a waste of your time

Red Book was awesome for me, along with a $15 Boost Your Score! CD. Went from 30 on ACT practice tests online to a real 36.

Blue Book should be your most important prep item for the sat, it is the only source (outside of online, to my knowledge) by college board with actual sat questions. Tests and practice problems by other companies like princeton review don’t necessarily follow the same patterns and concepts tested on the real sat (maybe similar, but not exactly, there’s a difference), so you would be developing a wrong set of skills to answer questions.

For the act, the red act prep book is really useful. Again, I would only rely on questions from this source or the act site for in depth review.

A REALLY useful source for me was Mike Barret’s online course and his SAT prep Black Book, it took me from 1560 sat to 1870 after about 2 weeks of reviewing his stuff. My act also went from 22 (initial) to 25 after about a week of reviewing his act course.
