Do many of you find that when you take notes out of a textbook, you tend to forget them after a few days? That happens to me all the time. how do I make myself take notes that will stay with me for a long time?

Try the Cornell method. It's very useful.

Any other suggestions than the Cornell method? The Cornell method is one big waste of tiem for me. I've found outlines a bit better but eh still not so there yet.

ewwwww cornell notes. they're so evil
in my classes, i just copy what the teacher writes and add things that he says.

I just write while the teacher talks...sometimes I use symbols/abbreviations to save time/space. I guess you could re-read the notes that night? I don't do it -- I just wait till the night before the test and reread everything -- but that may ensure better recall.
