Anyone with advice on how to wade thru potential colleges with support programs for students with LD? Has anyone used Peterson Colleges with Programs for Students with Learning Disabilities? It costs $50, is it worth it? My s is a senior HS student and has NLD...trying to select potential colleges to look at.....

I would look through them and see which one(s) are the most beneficial, and look at the school itself, is the location and atmosphere right for the student, are the desired programs offered, what’s the graduation and return rate, etc.

I know it’s really hard to go through them, there are a lot of nice schools out there.
I pray that you’ll find the school that’s the best fit, best of luck! :-)

The problem is if your son is already a senior, you are seriously behind the 8 ball waiting until now to try and help him find a college that will be a fit. Especially with students with disabilities, you want to take the time with your son to explore the options and visit the places that your son would be considering spending the next four years.

Having said that, Peterson guide is quite good, but you should be able to get it at the local library or the disabilities office at your son’s school. Talk to the guidance counselor to help narrow down the choices, along with your son.

Does your son want to be close to home or go away to college? Will he feel more comfortable transitioning to a four year college from a community college? Will he feel more comfortable in a smaller or large town; in a smaller or larger university; east coast or west coast? What type of studies is he interested in?

Answers to these questions will necessarily narrow down the search. One size doesn’t fit all.

I found Peterson’s to be a complete waste of money.
