Hey, guys! I will be applying to UNC this fall and I need some help with the essay portion. I believe that I am an excellent writer, and I did get a 10 on the SAT essay. However, I understand that these are two completely opposite objectives. Could somebody please give me some insight on what an acceptable UNC essay would consist of?
Try and think a little differently. I have never been the “creative” type of person (not at all my style) but after a week of hard thinking I chose a topic that I could relate with easily and was somewhat intriguing and different. I won’t give too many details but roughly speaking I wrote about how I’m like a Kit-Kat (it’s a long story). What I am trying to say is don’t just talk about yourself; blend what you feel is unique yet definitive about you into an essay that doesn’t feel like you are just padding yourself with praises or seems like a personality profile. I suggest being spontaneous about something you do every day in your life (like eating kit kats) and finding a way to use it into describing an innate part of you.
My daughter was accepted OOS. Her CA essay was about cleaning out a closet, and her UNC essay had to do with suddenly realizing that a child she worked with was just like her. UNC does have a video you could watch describing what they look for in the essay.
