I go to a public school in Oklahoma, and one of the few upsides to my education in this area is how hard my high school’s 2 technology teachers work to get grants to fund their curriculum. Since 9th grade, I have worked in my various technology classes to earn 6 BrainBench certifications (MS Office, Presentation Skills, etc.) and 2 Adobe certifications (Photoshop cc and Indesign cc). These tech classes, along with Business Professionals of America, have been a large part of what I do at school. I am planning on majoring in Computer Science… where on the common app would I mention these certifications? Should I mention them at all?
Short answer - it depends. You can mention them under additional information, but the more selective the college, the less important some of these will be. As an example, certification or no certification, there is a certain expectation that an applicant to a 4-year university in 2018 knows his/her way around MS Office.
I would mention them under Additional Information as noted above. You’ve worked hard for your certifications, so include them.
Thank you both! I will do that >:D<
