Ok so I currently attend a university and live on campus but I want to move home with my parents for fall 2013/spring 2014. My uni gave me a lot in grants and loans this year since i am living on campus but I'm worried that I won't get any grants next year if I live at home.

The reason I want to move back home is so that I won't have to take out loans and pay out of pocket, I was hoping to get enough grants to cover all costs. I thought I would still get the full pell and a state grant, but I'm starting to doubt myself...

And also my efc is 00000.

It depends on the school. FA is based on the school’s cost of attendance (COA). Some schools have a lower COA for living off campus. Some don’t. You would have to check with your school.

ok so idk if this is helpful or not since aid depends on the school, but my school’s coa on campus is 23k and the coa for commuters is 14k. The main difference is housing for on campus costs 10k and housing for commuters is 1.5k

It seems likely that you grants would be reduced and your loans would stay the same . . . but talk to your school financial aid office to find out how they’d handle it. I could be wrong!

If the COA is $9k less for a commuter, then your FA will be based on that.

The pell grant will not be affected. It is an entitlement grant and is *not *reduced when the COA is reduced. The State grant will depend on the state, as will any money direct from the school. You should ask your school.
