How will this look on my college application?

So this year two of my classes conflict on my schedule, theatre and AP Spanish 5, because they are both offered only in the same time slot. I have been in spanish immersion since 1st grade and will be a junior in high school. I told my mom that instead of Spanish this year I would take AP European History instead of Spanish so that I could take theatre, and she was not pleased. Even though I have been in Spanish since seventh grade, I know that admissions only see that I have taken it in high school for two years and I am worried that it will look bad on my application. I fully intend to take Spanish my senior year, though I am still concerned that it will look bad I that I missed a year of Spanish. Suggestions?

Can you take Spanish this year and skip theatre this year? Academics should always take priority. Is there only one theatre class, and have you taken theatre before?

another option would be to take spanish at a local college if that is an option in your area. A lot of classes conflict and “missing” one class is not a red flag in and of itself on the application.
