I don’t think any college is worth an entire life’s savings. But I have a kid at the 5Cs and while no place is perfect, it is a pretty idyllic college environment.

Pomona has been an amazing experience for my student, who is about to finish sophomore year. Small classes, close relationships/mentorships with professors, amazing well-funded activities, all in a low-stress environment with minimal “stress culture” prevalent at many other top schools. (Sunshine also helps mental health.) As for the cost, you have to examine your own situation and figure out how paying the bills is going to affect other areas of your life. In our case, we are very happy with the fabulous undergraduate experience that our student is having. There are many less expensive schools that also offer an excellent education as well.
