Howard University *CLASS OF 2018*

Thank you. I really thought I didn’t get any scholarships.

Below are the scholarships listed on the Howard site under Freshman Scholarships. At our school we were told that if you apply EA and meet the criteria, you get the money. After EA you still can IF there is money left. So far, everyone I have talked to who applied to Howard and got in last week and had the scores and grades for one of the scholarships below got an email with the name of the specific scholarship stated.
If you fall in one of the categories and did not get an email or have a financial aid tab that shows the scholarship, you might want to call after Christmas break!

Anyone know when we get the acceptance letters in hard copy in the mail?
I just want to take a copy of it and send it off for the next step in the med program so i dont have to keep worrrying.

I am! Broadcast Journalism and Political Science.

is there a link for scholarships you have to apply for?

Did you receive an email telling you that you got a scholarship?

Yes I received an email that named the specific scholarship (from the list on page 18 on this thread). So did some others I know. I applied using Howard’s application.
2 who used the common app not only did not receive the scholarship letter, they never got any word on whether they were even accepted! They are calling after break to see what the problem is.
The scholarship list is very clear. Basically, if you have certain ACT/SAT scores and the required GPA, you get the money if they have the money when you apply. EA kids are pretty much guaranteed it so long as they qualify.
Our counselor said over the years more kids get the scholarship than will take it. You figure the Presidential and Laurette Howard scholarship kids will end up with a lot of scholarship offers from a lot of colleges…so she said to always check back in late April if you qualify but they did not offer you the money, as some money may have cleared up.
She said Howard sticks to the formula listed for scholarships (meaning if you are 5 points short on your SAT of the higher scholarship they won’t bump you up or if you have the ACT score but not the GPA they will not give you the scholarship).
Have to say, our counselors have been pretty helpful, especially with pushing all interested to apply to Howard EA and lock in the money. Apparently, it is harder to get money out of Spellman, Morehouse and Hampton early on and they do not use a formula like Howard.

HSG

I used the common app, I’ve been accepted just no word on the scholarships.

@LEMAthoo Didn’t you get that email with a bisonweb User name and password a few weeks back? If so, use that info to log into bisonweb and find that financial aid tab. You should be able to click on “student requirements” or something and see a scholarship.

I still don’t see a financial aid tab when in log in.

LEMAthoo…go to the chart on page 19 of this thread. If your unweighted GPA and SAT/ACT scores are within range of one of the scholarships, you should be getting that scholarship. Just call after break…call your admissions rep. Also, check your junk mail/SPAM mail to see if it (the scholarship letter) went in there. I don’t know if they give out any scholarships aside from those I posted on page 19.
Also, you can try and go to
[BisonWeb - Howard University](User Login) and press Log In at the top (green button)
then put in your user name and password (it might ask you to change your password from what they emailed you)
then click Financial Aid
then click Financial Aid Status
then click Student Requirements
at that point, it would say something about unfilled requirements and it will have the contract for the name of the scholarship you received

can you change major before even starting our first semester.

Every time I try to try to log in it says that my pin expired and I need to change it. But I it works just fine when I try to log in to view my application status. It says acceptance so I know I got in and my pin works. I did do my application through Common App and not Howard so could that have something to do with it?

I applied with the CA too but Howard still sends us an email so check your spam guys! If there’s nothing, then contact them!

I tried the change the pin thing and logged in to the Bison Web but it won’t show me anything at all about Financial Aid.

Hey. I am an international student and haven’t received any word yet. I don’t even have a bisonweb id. Are any other international students having issues?

You should call when they open there office  @nycguyy

Quick question. Is Howard sending out admission packets by snail mail too, and if so , when?

They didn’t say when but yes, it’s slow. Haven’t gotten my letter yet. Just the Happy Holidays letter.

Has anyone tried to call Howard after the break? No one is picking up when I call and their message box is full. Does anyone have the phone number of a helpful counselor? Thanks
