How's Harvard Final Club? Thank You for Replies

From what I've heard, people talk of it as a super-elite-rich-WASP-legacy-group that is outside of Harvard's jurisdiction. Is that true? Can anyone elaborate on this? Will not joining something such as this hurt your undergraduate experience? [I am more for inclusive organizations and not exclusive ones on campus. Explains why I love team-oriented people over one-man-self-interest people. Life's only more fun is you can share it with others.]

seems like your mind's already pretty made up

nah. I am a flexible individual. That's the only perception that I have gotten about the final clubs so far. It would be nice if someone could explain otherwise. Seems a little out of touch for Harvard to have something so exclusive or maybe that perception is wrong and final clubs are as wonderful as they make them out to be.

They're basically like a shovel without the handle, if you catch my drift.

A shovel without the handle is still as deadly if placed in the right hands!

Exactly!
but at the same time, not at all.

It's one percent of the campus

Or is the campus one percent of the finals club?

I'm a WASPy legacy who only met one person who was even a member of a finals club in the four years she was on campus. Harvard has no control over the final clubs as they are no longer part of the university and haven't been since 1984.

Finals clubs rock.

^^They are Final Clubs, not Finals Clubs, and every Harvard student I know pretty much ignores them.

People generally aren't meticulous about calling it a Final Club...unless you're a reporter or something.

What is a final club anyway?

wikipedia is your friend: Final club - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Its not clear why final club should be prefaced with Harvard. There isn't any affiliation with the university.

No. But ultimately, they're still very much ingrained in the culture of Harvard....whether or not one chooses to ignore them.

@bandit_tx - I believe 10% of Harvard males (and a significantly lower % of females) are in a Final Club.

Just one option - among many - for something to do on a weekend night.
