How's USF for me?

Hey guy's! So I've already finished applying to most of my colleges. However, I've been thinking about it, and I'd really like to have the possibility of going to a school in warm weather. Like California and Florida. I'm from New York so it would be a nice change of scenery. My grade's aren't the best, but my SAT's are decent. 2.7/4.0 GPA in a dual-curriculum school, 1840/2400 SAT's. Waiting for my scores from the December SAT. While looking around at these warmer climate schools, I came across USF and it seemed like a good option to me. Now I know grades wise its a reach, but was just wondering on your opinions overall about it and if it may be a good fit for me. Here's what I'm looking for in a school.

Major-Psychology
Possibly law school after college.
Shouldn't be more than 35k tuition. (USF is around 25k OOS)
Good academics, but good social scene as well. I do like to party, but most of my focus will be on school.
Good weather
I like school spirit at games.
Decently large school

That's basically it. So what do you guys think? Do I have a chance at it? Is USF a school that I could fit in? Do you guys know of any other schools in Cali or Florida that may fit for me and that I may have a slight chance at getting into? I know that all UC's are out of the question, as well as USC, U of Miami, and Florida State. I'm aware that I do not have good grades so most schools will be a reach for me but let me know if you guys can think of something. Thanks so much.

UCF, FSU, FIU, UNF, UWF, FAU

Are those within reach for me? Do they have decent psych programs? How do they match up to what I’ve listed besides for being in florida?

Undergraduate curricula are largely the same everywhere, with some important exceptions. Psych is not one of these exceptions. What matters is what you DO in college, not where you go.

You asked for schools in FL you could afford and get into, and I gave you a list.

FSU is not an option with that GPA. UCF would be iffy but I think they look at test scores over GPA so there might be hope. There might be a chance at FGCU. I think summer admit at FIU might also be in range.

FIU (Miami) is large but kind of a commuter school so I don’t know about school spirit. FGCU (Ft. Meyers) is not very large. It is newish and has a pretty campus. I know people there involved in Greek life and they really enjoy it. UCF (Orlando) is huge, decent school spirit. Weather is would be good at any of them.

Don’t know anything about their psych programs though.

Here’s a comparison site:

Student is dead-center average for FSU SAT score. I didn’t think FSU cared much about GPA.

I maintain he can get into these schools. I’m not arguing that he will.

Oh well thanks guys! I’ll definatley look into everything you said.
