HPYS?

Colleges I’d like to be chanced on: Harvard (SCEA), PYS, UChicago, MIT, Columbia, Rice

Demographics: white male, live in CT, go to a fairly good public school (3 kids to HPYS a year), high income household (combined income >$500k), dad went to harvard for undergrad + med school

Major will either be math or social sciences depending on what college I go to

Stats:
GPA 3.95/4.0 UW
School doesn’t weight GPA or hold a class rank
SAT I: 1580 (800 math, 780 english)
SAT subjects: Math 2 800, World History 800, US History 790, Chemistry 790
ACT: 35
APs: 5 on AP Calc BC, AP US Gov, AP US History, 4 on LangComp

Taking AP Litcomp, chem, french, economics, and band as a senior

ECs:

Did a fair amount of research work/internships for doctoral students at an ivy league school - research has been published in some science journals with credit given
Harvard summer school
Play clarinet and piano - 1st chair clarinet of a pretty prestigious youth orchestra, have performed in Carnegie
Student council president, have a seat on the town school committee
Baseball (probably not at a high enough level for college), have made regionals in track
Counselor at a summer camp teaching math and computer science to middle schoolers
Started a fundraising event/campaign that has spread to become an annual thing in my town
Quiz bowl captain
President of math club
Co-founder/president of the magic the gathering club\

Academic honors:

Won a national prize a few years ago for my national history day project
USAMO qualifier
Placed very highly at nationals in international geography bee
NHS
National merit winer

Recs are from my AP Calc BC teacher and my AP US Gov teacher: feel very good about them.

Thoughts? The one I care most is Harvard SCEA.

Competitive stats. Harvard litigation showed legacy to be a good advantage for Harvard. Definitely SCEA H. Hope you have some other backups that are matches and safeties lined up if you get deferred (almost 0 chance you will get rejected). Have you looked at some top state schools that have EA or rolling admissions that are not restricted by H’s SCEA policy?

They’re high reaches (Rice is a reach) for everybody, including you. You have good stats, an great ECs, and no major hook, just like many other applicants to these schools.

PS. At this date, you’re only a National Merit Semifinalist. As long as you submitted your application, you’ll almost certainly be a Finalist. However, that hasn’t happened yet, same for national merit Scholars.
