HS Freshman Wanting to Improve his Chances

Hey guys

So I'm a high school freshman and I just want to know what are some things I can start doing now to increase my chances of getting into a good college. In regards to extra curriculars, grades, what classes to take, and etc. I've attached a list of available courses my HS offers below and was wondering if you guys could help me out with a 4 year plan.

English and History ?: As you can see there are no classes really sopohmore year for english, what my friend did was, if I remember correctly, he took 2 interdisciplinary history classes sophomore year and disregarded English as there are no classes sophomore year. (The two after lit/writ I believe are at a lower level, thus not worth taking)

Interdisciplinary programs ?: So confused here. What are these? are they essentially a fusion of two subjects? Should I take these? I noticed lots of sophomores just take the interdisciplinary classes in Eng AND History.

Science ?: I'm interested in a medical career (i know it's way too early to decide but I'm definitely INTERESTED) so should I take Chem or bio? Elaborate the difference between the two?

Language ?: I've heard the french teacher is horrible, although I can just self study and deal with it 4 years, should I? It's too late to change languages now :. I'm thinking I'll just deal with it.

I can also list electives but I'd like to start with main courses. Again thanks for any help I can get.

My schedule (no order)

bio
pe9
alg 2 trig
lit/writ
fund of business
computer applications
french 2

also doing football wrestling and track throwing. our school isn't a good sports school so what would you recommend I do? I think doing these sports all 4 years (it covers fall winter and spring) on the jv and varsity level would be good for ECs along with some other things I have planned such as NHS and some clubs maybe.

Chemistry has a lot of problem solving while biology is completely memory based. I couldn’t stand Honors Biology, and gladly I don’t have to get involved in a biology course for the rest of my high school career. The concepts are hard to grasp, and it takes the right kind of person to completely understand them. If you like Algebra, you’ll probably like Chemistry.

Can’t really answer the other questions right now - have golf in a few minutes - but perhaps I’ll “elaborate” when I return.

Yea I’ve heard from a lot of people that Bio is memory based and I do like algebra  I’m thinking I’ll probably go with Chem.

Alright! Thanks for your help.

Any idea on a 4 year plan?
