HumEc Phone Calls

Hello. I received a human ecology call on March 6th and was admitted today. Idk if the call had anything to do with my acceptance, but I took it as a good sign and it was true! I will most likely be majoring in HBHS because I am planning to go to med school.

I also was accepted today after receiving a call in early March! I believe that the call is made to some admitted students then as a way to allow them to become more interested in Human Ecology ahead of the official decisions date.

My daughter did not receive a call but did receive an email on March 13 saying “Thank you for applying to Cornell …stay calm’ and continue to attend to your work and activities with integrity etc…”. I thought it was an odd time to send a stay calm email, but she did get in! So maybe it was an attempt of reassurance? Maybe just sent to everyone but for future applicants to human ecology not receiving a call does not mean you won’t get in. And maybe receiving the email is a good sign?

I also received the email on that date, and it included this line: “As the process unfolds, please approach your wait with calm and continue to attend to your work and activities with excellence and integrity.” I also don’t know if this is just an email they send to everybody, but if that’s not the case, I definitely think it might be a positive sign! Hope this helps future applicants

Okay it’s now June, and March/April feels like a century ago. Anyway, I just wanted to give an update that I also did receive this phone call in March and that other email AND I got admitted to HumEc. I personally believe that the call is equivalent to a likely letter, but don’t take my word for it. However, I will say that after looking through past CC posts all the way back to 2009, I found that of those who got a call, all were admitted. As for my personal opinion, I wish they didn’t do this dumb call/email thing because it’s not a legitimate guarantee or answer, so you’re stuck in this dumb limbo phase for a month before you actually find out. Anyway, good luck to all future Human Ecology applicants—wish you the best of luck:)

do they do this in early edcision rounds as well?
