Hunter R. Rawlings III Cornell Presidential Research Scholar

Hey, did anyone else receive an email notification about being a Hunter R. Rawlings III Cornell Presidential Research Scholar? Moreover, does anyone know a bit more about the program? I read some basic information online, but I'd definitely like to know more!

Thanks!

I got it too, but I have no idea about what it is except it has something to do with research.

The website is pretty good: [Cornell University Cornell Presidential Research Scholars](<a href=“Cornell Commitment | Student & Campus Life | Cornell University”>Cornell Commitment | Student & Campus Life | Cornell University)

Basically, as a scholar, you get $8,000 over four years to do research. They also provide up to $4,000 each year in student loan replacement.

Congrats! It’s a great honor!

Cornell doesn’t provide scholarships per se. But, this is one of the more prestigious awards/honors/whatever-you-wanna-call-it you can get as a pre-frosh. Obviously, you’ll want to do research in college to take full advantage of the program. It’ll be a nice award to put on your resume should you ever apply to grad or med schools.

Is there any way to “apply” to be one? I’m very disappointed about not receiving this… I’ve done 3 years of science research and placed in competitions like Intel STS, Siemens, and ISEF so I was really hoping to get this as a form of merit aid :-/

Yes. You can apply as for this as a Cornell student although there are limited # of scholarships given out.
