I was hesitant to apply to Huntsman because of the language aspect. I wouldn’t want to be bogged down into that one language throughout the program. The other facets, however, are fantastic. Why not consider SFS also?

I want to study international relations so would this program be good for that? It seems to be more business-oriented

if you want to study international relations at penn, apply to the college and major in it

Justadream- i had the same doubt. But i’m going to go for it. Better than not trying. :)

I am looking for a career in Investment Banking/Consultancy or any other allied finance field. However, I hold a genuine interest in International Studies too and wish to study the same only for the sake of learning more and exploring my interest in the same.

But, as someone previously mentioned in this thread, will it be of any disadvantage to me in the job/professional aspect if I do the Huntsman Program?

Also, I was wondering if someone can feed me with the statistic of Acceptance Rates for ED in Huntsman as well as Wharton. (I will be mentioning Wharton as my backup school)

Thanks in advance.

I just found this program and am very interested. My target language would be Spanish, but I haven’t taken the SAT II Spanish test. I have taken SAT II in Math 1, though. Should I bother applying?

There are internationals who get in and receive financial aid. I know several internationals who have work study positions. So you shouldn’t decide not to apply because you need financial aid, it’s just that it may make it harder for you to get in. Not impossible though.

Is there current Huntsman students on this board? Also what are some stats for the accepted Huntsman students? I assume Huntsman’s yield would be >80%, correct me if I’m wrong. Also is there a group of admission officers that specialize in picking the Huntsman candidates?

hey, i was accepted to huntsman this year! realllyyyyyy excited i think there are about 15 spots or so left for RD.
to jake 2011: penn wants you to have a math 2 sat II score to submit for wharton, and then either an ap or sat II for spanish i think. you can find more info on the website.

15, your not kidding are you? it means they took in 70% of the incoming class at one go?

Nah, I’m pretty sure they accept around 60, maybe slightly less, overall for a target class of 45-50–they most likely took in slightly over half the admitted class ED (32 plus one who took a gap year) which is in line with Penn overall.

I’ve never took economic class nor did I started any business, will this be my disadvantage. I do love one potentially targeted language and love international business though. Also what are some of the qualities that Huntsman admission committee look for?

Do you have to make references in the Huntsman essay?

I was wondering if there is a special Huntsman committee to select candidates? If so, how does it work? Anyone has inside information?

For the dual degree programs, your app gets reviewed for these programs before the RD/ED adcoms see it. If you don’t get into the program, then it gets put into the pile of all the other apps to whichever backup school you selected and then gets reviewed again.

I don’t know if the committees are the same though. I would assume that the committees are made up of a few of the normal adcoms along with a couple of people specific to the program.

Quaker2B could probably give you some better info. She seams to know a lot :]

Then I’m assuming the Huntsman files are being read at this moment. What if my interview is in Feburary, does that mean I might get rejected from Huntsman even before admission people recieve my interview report? Well, I guess interview isn’t that important. But don’t you guys think for a program like Huntsman, interview should be evaluated differently?

i got in to the program ED this year and i never had an alumni interview or anything. they got a ton of penn apps from my area and they never contacted me…but oh well, it turned out just fine so i guess the interview isnt super important

What is the acceptance rate for the Huntsman program? And about how many kids get accepted into the program?

Around 60 accepted total, 30ish were accepted ED. And to answer the question from before, according to the website:

"All Huntsman applications are reviewed by the respective admissions director for a specific U.S. or world region. The Huntsman Program liaison from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions also reviews the application as do the Huntsman Program directors. All decisions are made in committee in consultation with the Huntsman directors, but the final decision lies with the Dean of Admissions.

The Huntsman Program decisions are rendered before single degree. Those applicants who are not offered admission to the Huntsman Program will receive full consideration by the single-degree school of their choice. Applying to the Huntsman Program does not hurt a student’s chances of being accepted to either Wharton or the School of Arts & Sciences."

Also, regarding the interview, I didn’t interview either (other than meet with Jose and Inge last year) and I was also accepted ED, but it was sorta a weird case because I’m an athlete. Regardless, I wouldn’t worry.

I know this is probably one of those obvious questions but if I’m a native Chinese speaker and hold the chinese passport do I still need to take an SATII in Chinese, my target language?
