btw guys... this was a reply sent by my friend who's currently in huntsman and is in china studying for the semester.. he gave me some pretty good insight (lol this was back in june so thats why hes still talking bout ED and stuff)

1) its not more work than regular wharton. in terms of wharton core classes, we
only have to take 10 whereas normal wharton kids have to take 14. we also dont
have to take wharton electives in subjects that we arent concentrating in.
huntsman is more if you are interested in taking international relations and
area studies classes. after frosh and soph year, other than the mandatory
huntsman history class that we took fall semester frosh year, i have taken all
wharton classes. also, being in huntsman, you can get into all the honors
sections for wharton classes, which is good because the curves are easier. there
are two options for applying to huntsman early, if you dont get in early you can
choose to apply to wharton early decision (its like 2 shots at early decision),
or you could say you want to be considered for huntsman program regular
decision. and socially, a lot of huntsman people just chill with each other, but
i wasnt one of those people. the only huntsman person i see a lot is my lambda
bro who is also huntsman my year haha. all of my other friends are
college/wharton people. but i am still friendly with huntsman people, they are
pretty cool, just not in my immediate group of friends.

2) in terms of language, i got a 700 on my SAT 2 chinese, so yeah, youve already
beaten me there. and my friend from korea who applied to huntsman with korean,
switched to chinese frosh year, and that was the first time he ever took
chinese, so if he can be in huntsman im sure your chinese is more than good
enough. so far i have only taken 2 semesters of commercial chinese, advanced
commercial chinese, advanced reading and writing, and advanced spoken mandarin,
and they were all pretty easy as long as you keep up.

3) competition in wharton in general is pretty crazy. a lot of huntsman kids
study super hard, but then theres a bunch like me who only study on the day
before/of exams. the results are mixed, im pretty sure my grades are better than
alot of my classmates who study way more than me, so it really depends on your
study style.

4) i think the program is cool. its definately different from plain wharton, and
i guess the IR and area studies classes are good breaks from boring management
finance accounting classes that you would otherwise be taking. its also
something to talk about at interviews, because it is a program with only a
select number of students. like my year there is only 30 ish, but usually its
around 45 and this years frosh class is over 50. but its a select group. and
studying abroad should be good. i go abroad in the fall, and was looking forward
to it the past 2 years, but now i just want to go back to penn to chill with my
gf and friends, so i kinda dont wanna go hahaa. plus i have been interning in
shanghai for the past 3 months, so i will have spent freaking 6 months in
chinafobland. and i really cant stand local chiinese people. so i cant wait to
go back to jersey/philly in january haha.
