<p>I think there is a preconception that all IBs require their analysts to leave after 2 years to get their MBA then be hired as associates. It is not the case for all IBs. D1 was promoted to associate after 2 years, and her 2 good friends were promoted to associate at GS as well. At this point, I am not sure if D1 would go back to school to get her MBA, especially if she were to stay in the business and getting promoted on schedule.</p>
<p>No, only the less promising analysts are asked to leave. The most promising ones (roughly 1/3rd of them?) get promoted to associate, though some decide to leave for b-school anyway.</p>
<p>Thanks for the help in this thread. You guys have given me some good resources and possible paths. For now I’ll just try to perform as well as I can at undergrad and keep the options of graduate school or a job in hopes of business school open.</p>
