Hyperlinks in Common App supplementals?

Currently working on various supplemental essays I’ll be submitting to schools through the Common App and I noticed that there’s an option to add hyperlinks. For example, rather than writing

I always pictured AOs reviewing applications printed on paper, in which case they obviously wouldn’t be able to click links. Is that not the case? Is there a reason not to add links in cases like the example above? My instinct is that it couldn’t hurt, since the worst-case scenario would be that they go unclicked.

Edited to add: links aren’t clickable in the PDF preview, so maybe this feature doesn’t actually work?

Aside from the fact that most AO’s won’t click links, the embedding adds to word count.
