i am in no way a genius like most CC kids, but do i have a shot at UW honors?

ummm, don't laugh, but I've got this super-awesome 3.28 GPA, (UNweighted, mind you, i nearly take all honors and AP so while i'm not exactly sure, i think my weighted is like a 3.6?) but pretty good SAT's, 1910! and i just took it again today, hoping to get a 2000 or better. i go to a competitive private college prep school in washington and have pretty great EC's (a ridiculous amount of volunteering, president of a service club, part time ski instructor job, PSAT national achievement outstanding participant, member of the national society of high school scholars, costume crew for the plays and musicals for two years, acted in the fall play once, on yearbook staff, did club tennis for a year, and there's probably more that i'm forgetting...) ANND i'm a URM, half black half hispanic. i write pretty well so hopefully i can rock the honors essay... i'm just wondering if i have any chance at all and am very hopeful because i would love to be a husky but don't think my parents would elt me unless i did the honors program.

oh, and UW has an 80% acceptance rate for people applying there from my high school.

:D?

I’d say it all depends on your essays. I know your private school will probably help you and make up for the seemingly low gpa (compared to the ridiculously inflated averages at public schools), and your activities/extracurriculars are pretty good, but not overwhelming. Also not sure how much your URM status will help you in the honors college. Really sink an extended period of time on both your personal statement and the honors essay. Have multiple teachers/counselors/friends/etc criticize them, and then revise accordingly. I think you might have your foot in the door, but outstanding writing is what will get you in.
