I am not applying to college, I am applying to NYU ED!!

I am happy I am getting good responses for NYU ED! Hopefully I will get in, as it has been my dream school ever since middle school.

imac15- The reason I am not applying to Stern is that there is heavy grade deflation, and if I ever wanted to change my course of study to say Law or something else, my GPA would not be as low statistically. ( Avg GPA for Stern is ~3.2, while avg for CAS is ~3.6 which is a big difference.)

^Yeah. I agree with what he said…In addition, the CAS Economics department is the one that’s ranked 10th in the world  Stern offers an Econ major too, but being in Stern, it’s much more cutthroat and business-focused, which isn’t necessarily what OP is looking for.

Also, given the OP’s stats, Stern ED would probably be a high match/low reach, whereas CAS ED is a match.

NP you must have gotten a new gf behind my back when you weren’t looking … or maybe I’m missing something. ;)

Anyway, to add on to NYU, I am just wondering why it is your dream school? (I’m not questioning the decision, I’m just wondering what are the qualities of the school that make it appealing to you?)

By the way, Fordham = safety. Assuming that those “Psychology-4” and “English-4” are true since we get our scores in July. EDIT: I mean you … I didn’t take Psychology, I took art but you know that.

I’m assuming you’re drawn to Courant, right? Me too! I say you’re definitely in.

When you say you want to major in econ and math, do you mean double-major? Or are you referring to NYU’s “economics and mathematics” major?

davematthewsxvii
Lol, I’m constantly at RPI and yeah it is pretty much dominated by guys in terms of numbers.

The only ones I can attempt to chance are:
Fordham University - yes
Union - maybe
RPI(Lally) - defintely
NYU - good match

But what do I know, I’m a rising HS senior too.

just a girl- I am double majoring in mathematics and economics.

Ohboi- Union isn’t a “maybe,” it is a safety lol, you should check CB for average ACT, SAT and GPA.

Anyways, hopefully I have a fighting chance, I wanted to do the NYU summer program courses in conjunction with my citibank internship, but it just didn’t work out, and it was expensive. Anyways, the reason I am not applying to Stern is that the averages of CAS and Stern differ by a large margin, and the chances of me doing well in a hostile environment is slim. I would rather learn for the sake of becoming a better person, and take classes “pass/fail” just so that i could take an interesting class and be intrigued by different ideas and lectures and people.

Dan- What attracts me to NYU ( besides the city) is the fact that you can take graduate courses while you are still and undergrad which will help me look good for graduate school admissions. Also, NYU has #1 ranked graduate programs in Urban Studies, Mathematics, and Philosophy, Top 5 in Law, and top 10 in int’l relations and Economics. I also want to take a few classes in philosophy, because I was intrigued by our Socratic discussions in Mr. Mcbride’s class lol. Remember that philosophy test we got back! I remember you were totally bummed out because you got a 34/40 lol Asian fail. I actually did better than you on that test, with a 38 after he gave us back one point lol. Oh Dan if you check thinkwave, we got a 96 on our final!! I know we did a lot better than most groups lol.

DAN! I got a 99 on my regents lol not that it matters! Check thinkwave! What did you get???

Lol, that’s why I put maybe because I don’t really know much about the school academically, but I’ve been there and know about it in general.

I think you have a better chance of getting into NYU than not btw.

NP - I got a 95 out of 100! :frowning: He gave you a higher grade.

But I got a 100 on the English regents and you got a 99 so it balances out. :)
