I am Pakistan. Can someone help me with their valuable advice?

Hello guys,

I am from Pakistan. I would like some of you to evaluate my profile and suggest me ways I can improve it.
Since I haven't studied in the US at all so I therefore need your valuable suggestions. I am targeting the year 2015.
I would like to go for my Phd as I need to get the full funding. Otherwise MS is also a choice. Are there universities where I can get into as full time Phd student considering my current profile? My top priority is the US though Canada is also a choice.

Following are my particulars:

GPA: 3.7
Major: Computer and Information Systems
GRE: 308 ( V:151 Q: 157, 4 AW)
IELTS : 8

Intending field of research: Computer science- data science and distributed computing

Undergrad project:

Multiagent simulation and its optimization on GPUs using CUDA(hardly anyone has heard of it in my place and we were the first group of students to do that project)

ECs(very few)

I was in the marketing team of my university event and reached out for sponsors and had meetings with various marketing heads

was manager in Network security competition organized by our departmental event and managed the competition in which 40 teams participated

participated in K foundation project. K foundation is a non profit social service body formed by the university alumni. My project was selected among other three from all over the university. It was about developing an sms based application that would help the poor people of our city to get information related to bus routes within the city on their phone via sms(sms is very cheap here). Our project was completely funded by K foundation.

taught data structures and computer architecture to students who failed in the exams privately(don't know this should be included or not)

was part of the baskteball team

Academic experience:(after graduation)

Served as an external project adviser for final year university students in the Telecommunications department. The project was about AES implementation on GPU and FPGA.

Professional experience:

About 2.5 years as software developer.
Right now working as an ERP technical consultant. Have worked for dozens of clients in the north american region (remotely).

I have sometime right now. The application deadlines are like in December 2014. Could anyone suggest some ways I can utilize this time to improve my chances? I am planning to retake the Gre as I am confident I can get around 320 now. What else shall I do? Shall I do some project or something too? Thanks!

bump- anyone?

Travellerking, it was pure luck that I saw this “bump” in the Latest Posts file. Normally I too would never open your thread, for two reasons:

You posted in “What are My Chances?” WAMC is a sub-forum for high school students (age 14-18) listing their stats for a specific university that they are trying to get into. Then they take turns guessing who will get in. Many of the adults who could answer your question do not like “What Are My Chances” posts.

Your title is not helpful. I was a little surprised to see “I am Pakistan” so I opened it for the heck of it. But most people won’t.

Please make a new post just under “College Admissions” generally and use a title like this one:
“International Student Needs Advice on Computer Science Phd or MS Programs”

I also think you should contact a few U.S. programs directly for advice.

Edit to Above Post:

I just realized there is a Graduate School Subforum. I think you would have more luck there.

Here is a link: <a href=“Graduate School - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/graduate-school/

Thanks a lot Picapole. I missed the “from” from the title and ended up writing “I am Pakistan”.
Thanks again for your help! Would post there :)
