I can haz columbia chance plz

I am applying to Columbia ED, and while I would rather go to the school of engineering, I would love to go to the CC as well. Which one have I a better chance of getting into?

I am 2 of 270 in my class in a public high school from an affluent town in connecticuit, and while my grades are very good, my SAT scores are worrying me...

Rank: 2
SAT best 1470 (730 on verbal, 740 on math)
SAT total 2250 (800 on writing)
SAT Subject tests
Biology = 720
Chemistry = 750
Math 2 = 710
History = 760
(Columbia requires a math and a science subject test for engineering)

I took 4 AP classes my junior year, AP LIT, STAT, CHEM, and US HISTORY and got 5's on each exam, and I took AP BIO my sophmore year and also got a 5

I am taking an all AP schedule this year, with physics, french, english, calculus bc, and european history

I am captain of varsity track and varsity ice hockey (I don't know if this is applicable, but I hold school record in high hurdles)

I know that I have fantastic teacher recs

I have a very well written college essay

I won a regional character award, was a national merit semi finalist, run a summer book club, am founder and president of a table tennis/badminton club, write for the school newspaper, won the regional JETS competition with my school team, mock trial lawyer, and whatever other minor extras I do...

I am a white male from an affluent family, so I don't think that is a plus either...

Give me a brutally honest opinion, and thank you very much.

You’re not going to get in.
There, now you can stop making chance threads. Isn’t three a bit excessive? Since you sound so confident, why are you even here?

“I know that I have fantastic teacher recs”. No you don’t. How do you know that? Did you actually read them? Because chances are that if your teacher did what most teachers did (which is to not show you what they wrote), then you wouldn’t have an idea. Even if your teachers like you a lot, that doesn’t mean your rec is good. If they are bad at writing recs in general and have trouble with doing a good job of portraying your character, then the recs will suck.

“I have a very well written college essay”. No you don’t. Who told you this? Unless an admissions officer told you this, then PLEASE DON’T assume your essay is “very well written”. Your parents/English teacher have a different definition of a good essay than an admissions officer does, and only the latter really counts.

“my SAT scores are worrying me”. You should be slapped in the face. 730/740/800? What, do you think you have to get a 2400 to get in? Most people would kill to have your scores. Once you’re above 21-2200, then your scores stop mattering and other stuff starts mattering more. Seriously, why are your scores worrying you?

Don’t make chance threads for Columbia. Its a crapshoot, and hardly anyone gets in. There’s no way to predict whether or not you will get in. If you have at least decent stats, then there is a small chance (like 10%) that you will get in, and once you reach that point, nothing that you do will increase those chances (except well, curing cancer). All you can really do is wait for decisions. And as far as which school in Columbia to apply to, does it really matter? Both schools are a crapshoot and hardly anyone gets into either school so you might as well choose the one you want more and apply there. Its easier if you are passionate about it.

Quit making chance threads in general. You are very qualified and have strong stats. You will probably get into most non-top 20 schools, so stop worrying. And for top 20 schools, like I said its a crapshoot so 16-22 year old students on CC will really have no accurate idea about your chances. Stop posting your stats over and over again and freaking out other people on CC
