@shreyas --If the grade is really really low, and the school is not renowned or the board followed is not tough in the opinion of the college adcoms - then even a high rank might probably not suffice. This is where SAT subject tests and 10th Board Marks(for most Intn’l students) come into the picture!!
Colleges, I believe, use these too to get an understanding of the student’s preparedness for college level study in the U.S. However, if you are applying to really really selective schools such as Harvard, MIT, etc. and have grades as low as 60% for a majority of your 4 years at high school - your chances are very bleak, if any. Just because, these schools have thousands of over qualified students to choose from!!

Oh sorry i didnt realize you had already declined. Be proud you will go far due to your honesty.

Yeah it’s not really a big deal. Don’t worry about it.

Wow. I know you feel pretty bad right now but you should be really proud of yourself. Honestly, I don’t know what to say except hats off, man. Doing something like that takes OODLES of courage. 10 years down the road, you’ll be so happy you did this. I think this counts as a better life experience than even four years at Columbia. I’m a fellow applicant and all I can say is you’ll definitely go far. Best of luck wherever you go!

Really saying that a grade A+ instead of an A and that too in 9th wont had much impression . You should have let it as it is only and still got accepted.
Anyways , the past cannot be changed. But Hats of to you for your courage! :)
