This might not be the apropriate board, but the high school one says that no academic stuff should be there, so here it goes. I am so nervous right now. I took a math quiz yesterday and I think I had a panic attack during it. I probably didn't answer at least half the questions and well... this could really screw up my math grade. I barely had an 83 before this, and I had been getting B-'s prior. Please tell me this won't completely screw me. Or don't, just be honest please. It's just, I'm really confused, should I tell my teacher that I had a panic attack or not? I've never had one before, this is a first time thing. Oh and sorry for the grammatical errors. And thank you in advance.

What were the symptoms of the panic attack? If we could verify that the symptoms are consistent with a panic attack, then explaining the symptoms you had might be better than just saying to your teacher "I had a panic attack". How long did it last?

Well it was kind of weird, I sort of felt it in short bursts. Like it lasted 3 minutes, left for a couple, and then came back for about two hours. So it wasn't as if once I left the math room it ended, it was during another class as well. I started hyperventilating, trembling, my heart started beating rapidly, I was dizzy, and it felt like my head was itching for some reason. Usaully I would just think that it was dehaydration, but I made sure to drink through the whole day. Sorry for the delay

I am not a doctor, but that does sound consistent with a panic attack. I think the best thing to do is go to a school counselor, have him/her verify the panic attack, and then you submit the verification to the teacher with a request to retake the exam or do additional work to make up for it.
You can walk into the counseor's office and come out with the written verification at the same time and go straight to your teacher. It's worth a shot.

Thank you very much sunshadow, I really appreciate it.
