I got mine towards the end of 8th grade. I only use it to make calls, and occasionally take a pic or two, that’s it. I don’t have texting. My parents aren’t willing to pay for it and I don’t find it useful enough to pay for it myself.

I actually don’t need a cell phone. Whenever, I am afterschool or need to make a phone call of some sort, I can always use the nurse’s phone, the office’s phone, or a friend’s phone. If there was a last resort, my principal lives next door from the school. And there is also a junior high across the street. So, I don’t need a cell phone, just wanted to ask about people’s experiences and opinions.

I first got a cell phone because I joined track in 7th grade and I was 12. I didn’t use it much because I was very shy and I got it taken away about a year later because of the stupid recession and my parents simply “claimed” that they couldn’t pay for it. Like paying an extra $12 a month to keep a phone is hard. They lie. And that was when I was 13, and right now I’m 15 in the middle of my sophomore year and I would like a phone, but I really don’t need a phone. I can live without one. Sometimes when I have track and XC meets, my mom will give me her phone for me to use. But other than that, I ask some of my friends if I can use their phone if I need to use one. Sometimes I just use the school phones also.

I got my phone when I entered High School. HOWEVER, it was a Pay-per minute phone, at a rate of $.20 per minute. Granted, I didn’t use it much, and had it until I reached senior year.

Currently, I have a Motorola Droid on Verizon with Unlimited Data. Through Google voice I get unlimited text. Most importantly, I use 3G internet almost all the time. I dunno how I lived without it now, as it functions as my GPS, Weather Forecast, Facebook device, etc.

wow. i got my first cell phone when i was 8 (no joke)

most kids in my school had cell phones since they were 8 as well, and “everybody” basically had one once middle school started.
then again my country is the cell phone capital of the world :D

I got my first phone when I was 11 or 12

I got it on my birthday, because I was going to a sleepaway camp that summer, and my parents wanted me to call. Back then, it was only for “emergencies”. Now I barely ever use the land line at home. Its alot easier to call friends on their cell, because you know THEY will answer, and not nec their parents/siblings/etc. Not that its bad that other people answer, I just get annoyed waiting for my friends to get on the phone…maybe its just me.

wow all yall get your cell phones very earlier in comparison to me.

i got a cell phone after my 17th birthday. that was 2nd semester in junior year. i was fine without one. it’s not a necessity, but it’s nice to have one though.
