I see a lot of people on CC who have known what they wanted to be right from the start. I'm a rising Junior and I have no idea right now. I used to think I wanted to be a doctor but I've come to the realization that a health profession is just not for me. I'm more English/History oriented than Science/Math oriented. Growing up poor has really made me conscious of the future. I think one of the reasons why I was bent on being a doctor was the high salary. I know now that that is not the way to find a good profession.

So, do any of you have suggestions on majors/jobs that are english/history related. Because right now I'm looking at colleges and I can't really decide which are right for me if I have no idea what majors I'm looking for.

You don’t absolutely have to know what you want to major in when you apply to college. I know most of the people on CC have their whole lives planned out, but the majority of high schoolers have absolutely no clue what they want to do. I’m a senior, and I’m applying undecided to all of the colleges I want to go to. I have a couple of things I’m interested in, but I’ll give myself a semester or two doing general ed requirements while I figure things out.

^I don’t know what job I could get with a major in Religious Studies.
^^^the same with Art History, African American Studies, and Woman Studies.

My major doesn’t have to be limited to English/History majors, either. I can handle Science and Math just well (B average), I’m just not exceptional at either subject.
