I don't know what to do. Is there anyway to erase or get rid of a degree and start all over?

I graduated from CsuLB with a BS in Biochemistry. My overall GPA is 2.4 with a 2.1 GPA for my major GPA. I chose the wrong major. I was able to finish, barely, but I want to change my field to psychology. Is there anything I can do? Post bacs? Is there a way to get rid of a bachelor’s degree so I can pursue a new one?

You cannot get rid of a degree from your record. Any “post bac” would be full pay.

No, you cannot erase your degree. What do you want to do with a degree in psychology? For example, if you want to be a counselor, look into just taking the classes you need as prerequisites to get into a training program for counselor’s then apply to grad school. You cannot get financial aid for a second bachelor’s so it’s important to make sure you are on the right path this time. There may be aid available for grad school, depending on your particular program and college.

Move forward. Get a masters in psychology or another field.

The degree stays. Go back and get a second BA in psychology. If you return the same school, you should need to pick up the gen eds, just the classes needed for your second BA.

What would you do with your new degree? Does that career path require a graduate or undergraduate degree?

The only financial aid that will be available to you is unsubsidized federal student loans, so you need to be strategic about how you earn your credits. Some you might be able to pick up on the cheap at a community college, or in non-degree status one-at-a-time at a public U. Another option is to look for a job, any job, at a college or university that offers this major, and where free tuition and fees are employee benefits. Many places allow employees to take one or two classes for free each semester.

It’s hard to think of any career path that requires an undergrad psych degree. I mean if you could snap your fingers and instantly have a psych BA, what would that do for you?

Just get a master’s in psych! Indeed, the combination of your BA in biochem and MA in psych is excellent.

I agree just get a Master’s.
