I dont know what to do!!

Hi, I'm a Junior, and I have no idea what types of colleges I should be aiming for.

My GPA: 3.85
WGPA: 4.4
SAT: 2130
Asian, Male, Maryland resident
8 AP's
14 Honor Courses

Around what ranks in the NewsWeek thingy should I be looking for colleges?
Thanks!

Here are some questions to ask yourself–

And here they are-hahahaha

Here are some questions to ask yourself–

What major do I want?
How big a school do I want to attend?
Do I care if it is rural or in a city?
HOW MUCH CAN I OR MY PARENTS AFFORD?
Do I care how far away from home I am?
What do I really like to do? Is it available there?
And how much does status matter?

Major

Rural, Suburban, Urban

Need Financial Aid, need based or merit aid (if you dont’ qualify for need based)

Is it OK if Greek Life dominates social scene or is that a turn off to you?

Size of school? Small, Medium Large?

Would you like to see your school’s football & basketball teams on national television?

East Coast, South, Midwest, West Coast, etc.

As far as selectivity goes, you could think about lower ivies as reaches, and concentrate on the colleges a little lower down.

Go visit UMD, St. Mary’s College of Maryland, George Washington University and Georgetown. That will give you a feel for 1) big state U 2) small rural LAC 3) urban uni integrated into city and 4) urban univ w/ campus. Once you know what kind of experience you want, we can offer suggestions.
