I don't know what to major in?

Hello, I'm new to this website, and I'm sure this question has been asked numerous times, but I just wanted to get an opinion for my circumstance.

I am currently in junior college, preparing to transfer. I just started my second year. I actually completed my GE to transfer to the school, now I'm just continuing, in my current JC, to complete classes to get into a major. I don't know what my major will be; therefore, I don't know what classes I should be following.

As of right now, I am following the Biology pathway. So, I am taking all the Premed sciences, math, etc. For a while now I have been considering becoming a doctor, but I've given myself some time to think about this decision, and truthfully, I don't feel this respected profession is something I am fit for. My reason for this is, I feel like I don't really like the hospital atmosphere (and I know there are a variety of other things doctors can do and choose to work, etc), but although a good profession, I think it is risky. I thought about following this pathway because a lot of my older cousins are finishing school, and finishing becoming surgeons and etc, whom are also top in their class, so it's a lot of pressure for me. (It's a family thing,) My mom works for a biotechnology company, so her encouragement for anything science, medical, whatever is there too... But I'm far more concerned for my future, and not necessarily fitting in with the new tradition in my family.

I'm considering other majors that pertain to business/finance, psychology that would specifically go into forensic psychology (law interests me as well as psychology), law is interesting, but I don't want to go into law.
But I keep considering medicine again, as it is a stable job, and I feel like I'm so set on it, but I just don't know what to do.

I am not doing well in Chemistry and Calculus. I have tried different approaches to solving my academic problem. Tutors, etc. I honestly don't think a science major is something fit for me (even though I think it's important). Right now, I am not doing well academically, but putting all my best efforts to avoid that. I am a really hard worker, that is just struggling. I'm just lost, and would like some advice on deciding on a major, as I would like to apply next fall.

Thanks a lot!

A high school friend of mine graduated from UCLA as a Biology major. He currently works at my Starbucks as a barista. I would not advise getting a Biology degree if your immediate plans are to get a job rather than go to graduate school.

My girlfriend is a psychology major. You have to go to graduate school to do anything worth the salary for it. Don’t go to law if you’re not interested, $150K in debt is not a good thing or something that can reasonably be paid off in time unless you’re in at Yale law school. T14 applicants are having trouble getting good placements.

If you’re not doing well in Chemistry or Calculus, the medical profession of a doctor is out. Think about what you love doing but also be practical. I love English, but I didn’t major in it for several reasons.

What is it that you like doing most? Or subjects that are extremely interesting to you? I would say major in those even if you do struggle. Shows you’re learning and are committed.

I’d say go through the school catalog at whatever university you’re looking at and read the course descriptions to see what looks interesting. Then check up on if it makes any money.

If you’re struggling in math and science and aren’t passionate about those topics, following the premed path is going to be a miserable experience. I think you should explore the business and psychology routes more fully, since that’s where your true interests lie. If you decide to go into psychology, a master’s degree can get you jobs as a counselor in schools, rehabilitation centers, etc. So even if it’s tough to find a job in forensic psychology once you graduate, you’ll still have plenty of options.
