Whinewhinewhine. He got in and you didn’t. Does this thread really need 8 pages?

You just made it nine ;). And I’m sure cherrybrandy already got the point a few pages back.

Modulation… Cherry tried to end this a few pages back… we are the ones keeping it going…

since when was uiuc better than usc?

@FellowCCViewer: You’re still making the thread unnecessarily longer and I don’t think here is the place of comparison those schools.

If you’re really interested in why my UIUC is my first choice, PM me and you’ll have the answer.

Admissions are generally random. No need to waste time trying to figure out why so and so got in, and you didn’t.

The way you’re acting in this thread I see why you got rejected.

How many times it should be said that I’ve got the answer in order to shut those ■■■■■■’ mouth?

I’m implying you thenextbigthing.

Get a life. If you seriously read his essays and ECs you seriously have a head problem.

this process is hard enough without everybody hassling each other. seems like the original poster got an answer of sorts. isn’t that enough to stop you from sniping each other? amazing to me…

@MarshallMock: I think it’s obviously seen who has a head problem, especially when one CAN NOT BE ABLE to read the previous post and still continue ■■■■■■■■.

moderators, I wonder when this topic is going to be closed? I’ve got the answer, the discussion is over but I’m still dealing with ■■■■■■.

@cherrybrandy: just stop responding. end of story.

cherrybrandy, I am not a ■■■■■, but I did look at the fine schools where you have been accepted and also those where you have not. In large state schools, more emphasis may be placed on your SAT and GPA. You did very well with those schools. However, private schools do judge students by their essays and ECs. It may feel random (it sort of is to each individual), but if the school needs a musician for their band, or a fencing champ, etc etc, that student (even with lesser scores) may get the spot. You alluded to the idea that the other student is an athlete. That might have tipped him/her in.

As for essays, it is really hard for any student to judge their own. Essays that are proofread by “experts” or teachers may have fine grammar, but the content still may not seem compelling to the adcom, and the voice can seem distant and “correct” rather than personal. This is a very hard process for those to whom English is not their native language. Adcoms get so many essays that simply seem the same-- about a student overcoming an injury to play the final inning, go on to do a concert, finish a race—that they don’t find them original enough to tell them something personal about the student’s passions. I do not know the topic of your essay, I’m only giving a gentle reminder that an essay is a very subjective item.

A final comment. Some of the posters you have called “■■■■■■” are not posting here to make trouble. They were genuinely upset with your tone and the negative things you said about a school that rejected you and a student who got admitted. Since no one can tell you exactly why you were rejected at that one school, you may need to stop attacking and just reflect.

Some colleges reject students who surpass the admissions requirements if they think it’s obviously your safety school and that you most likely won’t go there.

Also, the college admissions process is a crapshoot in terms of what colleges are looking for. People that were more qualified than you probably got rejected from schools that accepted you and people that were less qualified than you got accepted to colleges that rejected you. It happens.
