I’m not sure what the disconnect is here. No one in this thread has been condescending to you. These guys are laying out facts for you and you’re getting pretty defensive.
We understand that this situation is stressful for you, but come on. You are to blame for the .76 GPA. It would really be helpful to you as an individual to stop blaming to world and truly take ownership for your grades.
@GreenTeaFanatic either you didn’t read or you’re picking and choosing. They’re not “laying out the facts” they’re just trying to make me feel worse than I already feel.
You are not the first student to have not made a smooth transition to college. Lots of freshman struggle their first year of school.
It is a very important life skill to be able to accept your mistakes and learn from those experiences so that the same mistakes are not repeated.
It is also a very important life skill to listen to constructive criticism to improve upon yourself. You can’t take anything someone says to you personally. You have to take it as suggestions for improvement.
In life you will be constantly challenged for your decisions. A boss can call you into his/her office and say " I am not happy with your performance." How you react in that situation will make all the difference in getting fired vs getting a second chance to remedy the situation. A person with a positive attitude will be open to suggestions for improvement and then decide best steps to change the current situation.
One last note. Parents work hard and try their best to provide shelter, food, and clothing for their kids. Not every parent is in a position to help with college expenses and we can’t hold that against them. As we all get older we are prone to health problems. It is a part of life. All parents ask in return is for respect. You may not be in a position to do anything for them but the best thing you can do is help yourself. That means work your hardest to be successful in your academics so that you can graduate and obtain a job to support yourself.
Best of luck to you. I hope you are successful in achieving your goals.
