So I got into middlebury, but as I scroll through the laundry list of achievements and scores of those who were rejected I can’t help but feel guilty that I got in.
Why do you feel guilty about your admission?
No, you should be so proud! You have no idea if all of their EC, scores and life stories are true. The college saw something special in you. Celebrate!
When I was a first year student at Middlebury, the President brought all of us in and told us that we were not “the Admission’s office mistake.” This is as true today as it was then - especially at a school like Middlebury where they go over every application so thoroughly. You’ve earned it. Now take advantage of the opportunity presented. Good luck!
@MFDecision May I ask why? Maybe you have a special hook that the college finds attractive (URM, athletic, legacy, international, unique talent/special interest,or are from an underrepresented part of the country). Whatever the reason, they chose you. And I’m sure that you got into some pretty other great places too! I would suggest that you compare financial aid at all your options. Then, consider which school offers what you want to study. Most importantly, pick the school that just feels right to you. Don’t worry too much about how “good” the school is. “Good” is relative, and I’m sure the schools you are looking at are all amazing and will offer you strong academic opportunities. Midd is a nice school, and it’s great that you got in. If it feels the best for you, go for it. But if it doesn’t feel right to you and you still feel weird about having gotten in, then go to the school where you feel the most comfortable being yourself. I’m sure there are plenty of strong students who would love to get off the waitlist at Midd, and if you will be happy elsewhere, then I’d suggest looking into other options. Good luck!
