Iā€™m so pleased for you! Well done, and I hope it continues to be overall positive!:crossed_fingers:t3:

If you donā€™t mind updating again later and letting us know what you like about Catholic U, that would likely be helpful for other students who are similar.

Yee, itā€™s been a good semester Iā€™d say
Might still look in state in the future to save money, but I am content
The campus is very nice, and my roommate has been very chill thankfully
The classes Iā€™ve had so far have been not too hard to keep up on, and the food is nice, in a couple clubs too
Havent really explored the city tho, and making new deep friends is something Iā€™m still working on

Thank you!
I am hoping to make more friends as the year goes on, I suppose I just have to keep working on it

It can take a while so be patient and keep at it. Continue to work on developing friendships through activities you like, the dorm, classes, etc.

Thatā€™s great.

I would hope that you can afford or you wouldnā€™t have gone to begin with.

Transferring means you have to start all over socially, which as youā€™re seeing is hard work.

Good luck.

Congratulations !
Sounds like youā€™re off to a great freshman year.
Itā€™s really cool that youā€™re doing well in your classes and are involved in a few clubs.
Wrt the LGBQ dating scene and support, that you were (legitimately) worried about, how is that going?
Hope you get to spend time in the city especially since thatā€™s why you chose CUA.
Finally, thank you for the updates, itā€™s always really useful and people on this website like to hear from students along their college journey. Wishing you the best for the end of the semester.:hugs:

Well, my roommate+his friends on the swim team are accepting at least (havent told them but just from listening in and talking during conversations, I have heard some of the theology classes can be a bit iffy in some areas with assignments (one guy had to write an essay about why sodom and gammorah were destroyed, but it was apparently a really open to interpretation essay so you could kinda just write whatever you thought) but I havent really taken them yet
Have gone to the support group a few times anf they are lovely, havent gone as often as Iā€™d have liked because another club is on the same day and time, but when I do go it has been nice
As for dating I havent really tried that in general haha so I cant speak on that
Bit concerned about finding a roommate for next year but weā€™ll see I suppose

Not everyoneā€™s experience works out so itā€™s AWESOME that it is.

Congrats to you.

That is almost a ā€œniceā€ problem to have?

Donā€™t think of theology as ā€œreligiousā€. One can study a multitude of religion(s) and philosophies, and the intention behind the telling of any (in this case) biblical story, and write about it genuinely in the context of those times, societies and their norms, without being untrue to your own beliefs, or contemporary life situation. It might also be completely acceptable to draw parallels or contrast it to contemporary life.

You can approach it as you would some literature analysis ā€“ just another piece of ancient writing or oral traditions.
