How has your experience been so far?
Been thinking about your postsā¦ More than 3 weeks in, how has it been going?
Iāve also been thinking about this thread. Hope things are going well, OP!
Heyo! Everything has been going well so far! Things have been well ^^
Iām so pleased for you! Well done, and I hope it continues to be overall positive!
If you donāt mind updating again later and letting us know what you like about Catholic U, that would likely be helpful for other students who are similar.
Yee, itās been a good semester Iād say
Might still look in state in the future to save money, but I am content
The campus is very nice, and my roommate has been very chill thankfully
The classes Iāve had so far have been not too hard to keep up on, and the food is nice, in a couple clubs too
Havent really explored the city tho, and making new deep friends is something Iām still working on
Sounds like things are off to a good start. Thanks for the update and all best wishes moving forward.
Thank you!
I am hoping to make more friends as the year goes on, I suppose I just have to keep working on it
It can take a while so be patient and keep at it. Continue to work on developing friendships through activities you like, the dorm, classes, etc.
Thatās great.
I would hope that you can afford or you wouldnāt have gone to begin with.
Transferring means you have to start all over socially, which as youāre seeing is hard work.
Good luck.
Congratulations !
Sounds like youāre off to a great freshman year.
Itās really cool that youāre doing well in your classes and are involved in a few clubs.
Wrt the LGBQ dating scene and support, that you were (legitimately) worried about, how is that going?
Hope you get to spend time in the city especially since thatās why you chose CUA.
Finally, thank you for the updates, itās always really useful and people on this website like to hear from students along their college journey. Wishing you the best for the end of the semester.
Thanks for taking the time to let everyone know how itās going. Youāre really valuable to this forum.
And congrats on the good start!! Sounds like youāre off to a good start!
Yee, we can afford it, its just an idea in case we decide we want to save more money for future endeavors and such
Thank you!
Well, my roommate+his friends on the swim team are accepting at least (havent told them but just from listening in and talking during conversations, I have heard some of the theology classes can be a bit iffy in some areas with assignments (one guy had to write an essay about why sodom and gammorah were destroyed, but it was apparently a really open to interpretation essay so you could kinda just write whatever you thought) but I havent really taken them yet
Have gone to the support group a few times anf they are lovely, havent gone as often as Iād have liked because another club is on the same day and time, but when I do go it has been nice
As for dating I havent really tried that in general haha so I cant speak on that
Bit concerned about finding a roommate for next year but weāll see I suppose
Not everyoneās experience works out so itās AWESOME that it is.
Congrats to you.
That is almost a āniceā problem to have?
Donāt think of theology as āreligiousā. One can study a multitude of religion(s) and philosophies, and the intention behind the telling of any (in this case) biblical story, and write about it genuinely in the context of those times, societies and their norms, without being untrue to your own beliefs, or contemporary life situation. It might also be completely acceptable to draw parallels or contrast it to contemporary life.
You can approach it as you would some literature analysis ā just another piece of ancient writing or oral traditions.
