I filled out the wrong information on my FAFSA? Dependency verification/household size?

I also changed it to 3 recently so that is the updated EFC.

Make sure you check with your school to find out if you have to complete any additional forms. Wait a few days until they get the newest transaction with the changes you made. By the way, did your parents sign the FAFSA after you made the update? A lot of times students forget that part, and the changes won’t process as a result.

Yes - and I requested a transcript to be sent via mail from the IRS just in case something goes wrong.

Were you offered WS before the change? or were you never offered anything while waiting verification?

I’d be surprised if any WS was left at this point.

Do CCs award WS?

I didn’t file the verification forms immediately because I hadn’t done my taxes, then I had problems with the FSA ID, and then I finally got them done and the school processed them. I don’t know if it was because of the delays, but my daughter was not offered WS. When she asked about it, they said they start a wait list for those who want it on the first day of class and will redistribute any WS other students didn’t accept (or for students who didn’t return). I think the odds her getting some are pretty high.

To the OP, you just have to keep doing it until you get it right, but really you should have your parents’ tax forms and use the SSN off those. If you had checked your FA awards page on your school portal, you would have seen that your paperwork was not complete. Both my kids had ‘warning’ signing that things were not finished. It’s a pain, but you have to keep checking. For one daughter, for some reason the grants posted by not the loans, and that took several extra days, and then several more for another loan. For other daughter, warning was that she needed to complete the loan agreement and the web training. You won’t always get an email.

I have to wait for financial aid to be finished before I can apply for any student work, my community college awards work study and there are plenty of jobs still left. It will always take about 5 days to process since they also have to process other people’s FAFSA. I don’t mind waiting just as long as I get an award at the end, it is my first time filling it out and if I had seen the forms I needed to fill out in July I would not be having this issue. I only started filling them out early August. It will be unlikely that I will do work study for someone who will have lenient hours since I can only do 5-10 hours per week. My schedule is already really full.
