First of all, chill out.

Not going to your top pick for college isn't the end of the world (and certainly not worth suicide ). It's probably hard to see the trees through all the BS on this website (which is reaking of entirely too many pretentious know-it-alls) , but ivy league (or even good private schools) is not the be all / end all.

You can have a very successful, happy life by succeeding at a community college or state university, being active in your community and taking time to "smell the roses". Try doing something for others. Perhaps some reading up on Ghandi, Martin Luther King Jr, Mother Teresa , and other humanitarians will give you some perspective.

Think you have problems? Try being a black female with children in the Sudan these days. Put this in perspective, thank your lucky stars and pull yourself up by your boot straps. Good luck.

Does anyone know how financial aid works in Pakistan? I do not know of anyone from that country, but if anyone does try to ask about student loans and stuff. aptitudematerial is applying for University in Pakistan.

Please do not kill yourself aptitudematerial, I private messaged you in order to lend my (virtual) support.

I second on Pearl's. Chill out and let the system play itself out - top college is a bonus, but not essential

Suicide would be a mistake, a permanent solution to a short term problem. Even if you can't go to that particular college, your life certainly isn't ruined. There are other options, and you have know idea what may happen in the future that could lead to even better opportunities.

You probably will get more help by posting your situation on the international board or on boards frequented by people from Pakistan because most people using this board are Americans who don't know how Pakistan's colleges work.
