I got an F

there have been cases where families have sued schools over this kind of an issue

try it, and i’ll probably work, but count on moving to another school…really your best bet is to leave this alone and take the class during summer and get an A…when school starts show your teacher the 5, so at least he’ll feel sorry

Go straight to the principal. The teacher doesn’t even have the power to change the grade.

I would take the class, but the problem is it’s not going to change F+ on my transcript. And my teacher already knows I got a 5, she doesn’t care (although she does have the power to change the grade).

Anyway, I went ahead and told my father to send an email to the principal, which I dictated. Let’s see what happens when he replies.

^Does your school have grade forgiveness? And as I asked before, why are teachers allowed to have their own grading scale?

…

Hey everyone, great news! I can’t believe this, but my principal is letting everyone who is interested retake the [highly condensed] class in August, taught by the other teacher, and we receive the grades we get in it!

This was at the behest of the vice principal, who my parents emailed and then called…
And, now all teachers are supposedly going to standardize their classes, although the principal didn’t make an official statement, I know my teacher is probably going to have to.

I can’t believe how lucky I got…

^Lucky indeed. I bet the couple of students who did get A’s in your class are angry, as would be expected.

Glad to know things worked out for you :D
